Jim over at Blueprint for Financial Prosperity wrote a great entry on the first episode of Morgan Spurlock’s (the Super Size Me guy) new show on FX, 30 Days. It focused on him and his fiancee living on minimum wage for 30 days and trying to get by. Very powerful, and reminiscent of Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich, which I own and read a while back. If you get FX, I highly recommend it. It’s on tonight at 11 Pacific (schedule). If you like it, I recommend the book even more.
By chance, I also recently caught an episode of MTV’s True Life: I’m Dead Broke. In short, it ain’t easy. I would say it’s many times harder to go from minimum-wage to middle-class than from middle-class to millionaire. When you live paycheck to paycheck one bump in the road can be disastrous. This is something that Modest Needs tries to help alleviate. Check it out!

Thanks for the link jp, I think the discussion that has spawned as a result of the post is probably more interesting than the post itself. 🙂
But without the post, there’d be no comments! =) I agree, both are interesting to read.
doh. no more cable here.
reading the summary of that MTV episode.. well, some of those people could have made better choices.
but they’re young, and they make mistake. growing up in a tough environment does not make it easy for you to make the right decision.
still, seems like they’re going on the right path. hopefully. that Alexa girl seemed to have it the easiest though.
