If you like things old-school and still follow blogs and news sites using RSS feeds, you may be interested to know that the NetNewsWire RSS reader name has gone back to its original creator and there is a new version now available as a free, open source download for Mac OS X 10.14.4 or newer. Since the demise of Google Reader, I know that many people have switched to Feedly, but I have been a paying user of NetNewsWire for a long time.

I can’t comment on anything Mac (as I use Android and Windows), but I have been using Inoreader since Google Reader died, and it is awesome. A virtual clone of Google Reader with better features and no Google. I highly recommend it. Available for all platforms, basic version is free and fully functional. Way better than Feedly in my opinion.

RSS is old school? Jonathan, how do most people read your blog? Just wondering if I’m missing out on something.
I still use RSS and I’m sure many readers of this blog do as well, but I would say that most new visitors who wish to get regular updates will subscribe by email (see box on the right), or perhaps follow via Twitter. (I’m pretty bad at Facebook and non-existent on Instagram and so on.)
